05/10/2026: 📢 Bluetongue Virus (BTV-3) Vaccination Recording Update – Batch Recording Now Available for Sheep and Goats

Keepers can now record BTV-3 sheep and goat vaccinations on a batch basis within the ScotEID portal, alongside individual recording.

This feature allows keepers to quickly log vaccinations across a group of sheep or goats by entering the total number of animals vaccinated against each flock/herd mark, rather than entering individual tag numbers.

📋 Important Information on Batch Recording and Vaccination Certificates
Before choosing to record on a batch basis, please note the following system requirements:

  • No Individual Lookup: Batch-recorded sheep or goats will not appear in the individual tag lookup tool.
  • No Vaccination Status Prints: You will not be able to view, download, or print an individual vaccination status document for sheep or goats recorded on a batch basis.
  • Individual Status Requirement: Official vaccination status documentation and lookup functions are only available for animals that have been registered with their individual 12-digit tag number.

🔀 Which Method Should You Use

  • Use Batch Recording: if you want to record vaccinations quickly and you do not need to know the individual ID number (e.g., lambs intended to go direct to slaughter, or to store lamb sales).
  • Use Individual Recording: if you require proof of vaccination status for individual animals (e.g., for specific sales, or shows).
